Welcome to the Entrepreneur Accelerator

Hi, I’m Craig.

I’m the founder of The Entrepreneur Accelerator Organization and I’m excited to be writing this very first post describing what this new venture is all about, where it all started and where I want to take this project.

I really struggled with school growing up.

I wasn’t a good student. I didn’t learn the way they were trying to teach me and I just didn’t conform to the one size fits all education system of the 80’s. It’s not that I wasn’t smart or ambitious, I just wasn’t interested in school.

Many of my high school peers who were “falling through the cracks”, getting into trouble for theft, alcohol, and drugs and labeled problem kids all seem to struggle with the same challenges in the way they were being taught and the subjects they were learning. Many either dropped out or just skimmed by with poor grades.

For me, the benefit of school was more about the relationships I built with my peers. In my final year, I was the student council president because I learned early in life, the value of building relationships.

Instead of the school curriculum, I was interested in building things, into new technologies, inventing, woodworking, fixing cars and generally learning through experiences.

I read a lot and found mentors and coaches that helped me learn how to figure out the problems that were right in front of me.

From projects like restoring an Austin Mini to building audio systems and computers. The topics eventually shifted to business and learning about sales, marketing, finance, and operations and other areas of self-development.

I can distinctly remember a moment shortly after my second attempt at grade 12 that I wished there were classes for people that wanted to start and build businesses. Back then this was just not a highly promoted career path.

I thought to my self, “I should start a school that teaches people how to be entrepreneurs.”

I didn’t act on this idea but over the years as I’ve worked on all kinds of projects for all kinds of organizations, the idea of creating an entrepreneur school has kept creeping back into my mind.

20 years later, many of my peers I mentioned above that were labeled as the “problem kids”  have now gone on to become successful entrepreneurs in a variety of industries.

It’s been a childhood dream to start a school for entrepreneurs and today is the beginning of that journey.

Well, this is the beginning.

The first step in building The Entrepreneur Accelerator Organization – EAO is to develop a plan, develop course content and begin to grow the community.
