My goal is to share the good, the great and the not so great parts of my experience so far with ClickFunnels.

I’ve been using ClickFunnels for under a year now and really impressed with how well it works.

I first started as a ClickFunnels affiliate.

I heard about the really great commissions they offered and wanted to promote the app.

What is a Sales Funnel?

A “Sales Funnel“ basically comes down to an “automated sales process”, where your website visitors can come in the top and sales comes out the bottom.

In simple terms, you get your online visitors to go through a “capture page” where you can gather their contact information, usually a name & email and then follow up with them using email with additional Call To Actions to eventually lead to a sale and convert them into a paying customer.

Who started ClickFunnels?

ClickFunnels the company is a bootstrapped $360 million dollar SAAS company built from the ground up by two guys, one named Russell Brunson and the other is Todd Dickerson.

When I say bootstrapped, I mean they didn’t take any outside money from investors and rather built their business by marketing it online and building a massive cult-like following.

Russell is the head of marketing and drives the company’s sales and vision. Todd is the Lead Software Architect and head of technology and is focused on continuously building a bigger, better, and stronger app.

Clickfunnels comes loaded with lots of features like an easy to use editor with templates for sales pages, landing pages, member pages, squeeze pages to a shopping cart designed for up-sells, down-sells and bump orders(all fancy names for cool online sales tactics)

All the templates provided are fully editable which means you have full control on everything ranging from the background to font size, to containers, data fields and more.

1) The ClickFunnels Editor and User Interface

The Funnel dashboard is the home page you see after you log in and click on the funnels link. From here you can create new funnels or edit the ones you have already in your account.

My favorite thing about Clickfunels is the simple user interface. It’s pretty easy to understand and to navigate throughout your account.

This is great because you don’t have to hire a professional designer or web developer to build out pages as there is no need to code anything. They designed the editor for business users not for web gurus.

I’ve used a lot of website builders including WordPress, Drupal, and Wix and the ClickFunnels editor is one of my favorite.

I was able to build pages very fast once I learned all of the basics of how it works.

Now I can build and launch a page in a few minutes.

Everything is configurable and you can do this right in the UI. Even if you have zero designing or programming skills, you can still create professional looking sales pages with ClickFunnels in no time.

2) The Sales Funnel Cookbook – Recipes & Funnel Maps

The sales funnel cookbook provides you with 20+ sales funnel recipes that you can use to start your new sales funnels.

The process is simple, you choose the type of funnel you want from the list below.

Then when you choose the one you want, ClickFunnels runs a recipe that builds out the funnel and all of the pages for you.

You also get a Funnel Map to see what the entire sales funnel looks like.

This is one of my favorite features as it saves so much time when you want to build a specific type of sales funnel. ClickFunnels has thought about all of it for you and makes it so easy.

Once you choose your funnel, then you choose your page template.

This is my second favorite feature.

3) ClickFunnels Page Templates

ClickFunnesl page templates save me 1000’s of hours. There are plenty to choose from depending on what you are trying to do but these are proven templates. All you have to do it modify the copy and some design elements and you are ready to go in minutes.

For instance, you can have free e-book offer on the landing page which can lead visitors to a sales page where they subscribe to your webinar and then they move to a thank you page.

Now, this is just one example. You can create these types of sales funnels with all the pages connected and linked to your email marketing service and billing system.

The process is simple, you choose a funnel template, add your logo, your text content and you’ re all set to publish your funnel and start driving traffic to it.

What is Actionetics?

Actionetics is ClickFunnel’s Email autoresponder and automation platform. It can interact with your customers through the web, emails and also SMS. This module comes when you purchase the $297/ month full suite.

Actionetics takes automation to a new level with features that help you know more about your customers and automate your communication with them so you can scale your business for the long term.

Actionetics Contact Profile Information

The contact profiles page is where you can see everyone who’s opted into your lists across ClickFunnels. This is where you’re able to see how many people join/unsubscribe to your lists and where you can see information about your contacts.

Actionetics: Individual Contact Profile

The individual profile which you can view when you go into one of your subscriber’s or customer’s profiles.

The first area of this page which you’ll see is the ‘Action Score’ which is a score assigned to every single person who enters into any of your funnels in ClickFunnels and has to do with a bunch of different variables. The main ones are recency, frequency, monetary value and their social score.

You’ll be able to hover over the different bands within the scoring area and get an insight into what % the contact is sitting at for some of the different variables.

E.g. With a frequency of 1%, this shows you that the customer has not purchased very often from the user.

Under the General Info area of the page, you can also see a lot of valuable data which is pulled for that contact which can help you understand that contacts movements and engagement throughout your sales funnel.

Then you’ve also got multiple tabs on the left-hand side bar which allow you to see the breakdown of:

• Purchases made by the contact (also if an affiliate sent them to your offer, you can see which affiliate made the sale for you)
• Memberships the contact is involved in
• If the contact is in any Actionetics email automation
• Which pages the contact has visited recently within your sales funnel

Actionetics: Email Lists

Email lists are the core of any online business as you segment and build your contact base with visitors to leads, and leads to customers.

In Actionetics, you’ll be able to see all the different lists that are being used and import your existing lists for other autoresponders (up to 100,000 contacts per account, please contact ClickFunnels support if you require more).

Actionetics: Automated Email Marketing

As you start growing your list, you’re going to want to start communicating with your contacts and begin to build rapport and a relationship. To do this you’re going to need to start sending out email broadcasts to your email list.

You could use MailChimp, Aweber or ConvertKit but with Actionetics, your email marketing is built right into the same tool as your contact list and your sales funnels.

You can customize the information of the broadcast along with selecting a template to get you started.

One of the most powerful Actionetics pieces of functionality is its email builder. We’ve all been there and used some of the most unfriendly email builders and designers on the market.

And if you’re like me, you’ll really appreciate the new ClickFunnels email builder which emulates the landing page editor and is extremely easy to use. It uses a streamlined version of the landing page editor to build email templates and broadcasts which are formatted perfectly for email clients and on mobile.

What are Action Funnels?

Action funnels are another extremely powerful part of Actionetics which allows you to take internal and external actions on your list.

Through Action Funnels, you can also create custom groups and set them as triggers in order for an action to be done.

There are 7 custom groups in the Action Funnels:

• Social
• Contact
• Funnel
• Product
• Broadcasts
• Lists
• Email Step

Each of these custom groups can be set as triggers for internal or external actions on your email list.

Internal actions might include removing people from your prospect list if they subscribe to a new list after purchasing a product for people who only are in a particular funnel.

Alternatively, an external action might be sending people with a social following of x an SMS reminder about a webinar coming up.

Action funnels allow you to dig deeper and be as technical as you’d like to be with your email list.

What email autoresponders work with ClickFunnels?

Most of the best email autoresponders are supported y Clickfunnels. Here is the official list from ClickFunnels.

I personally use Active Campaign as I love the automation builder but most of these are pretty awesome.

Something to note with email, many web hosting companies severely limit SMTP access and may not allow ClickFunnels to connect to it.

Because of this, it’s highly recommended you sign up for a dedicated SMTP service such as Send13, Mandrill, SendGrid, or Amazon SES.

I use SendGrid and have been very happy with my delivery rates.

How does billing and payment processing work with ClickFunnels?

This is one of my favorite features of ClickFunnels. You can integrate payments processing right within your funnel sales pages. This allows you to start billing customer’s right from inside of your sales funnel on sales pages.

This feature will make your life much easy when it comes to converting visitors into customers as buyers don’t have to leave your website to buy. Instead, all the billing and transactions can take place on your sales page in your funnel.

Right now, ClickFunnels supports integration with several payment platforms including;

• Stripe
• Ontraport
• Clickbank
• Paypal
• JVzoo
• Authorize.net via Infusionsoft
• Deal Guardian
• Taxamo
• Shopify.

How do upsells and downsells work in ClickFunnels?

There’s hardly any product these days that doesn’t come with down-sells and up-sells as part of a sales funnel.

Managing these down-sells and upsells with ClickFunnels is easy.

The upsells and down-sells functionality are all part of the funnel so you don’t have to do much of the work.

It’s already in there and all you have to do it added to your funnel with a click of a button.

How do domain names work in Clickfunnels?

When you first sign up with Clickfunnel, they give you a free domain name is SSL. SSL is the security behind https so your website visitors know your site is secure and safe.

You can search for domains or you can transfer one to ClickFunnels or just point your name servers. They operate very similar to other domain name registrars.

I love this because adding domains in Clickfunnels is easy and you can administer them right within the app.

How to create a sales funnel with ClickFunnels?

As you read above, the Clickfunnels cookbook makes it very easy to start building your a funnel.

Once you figured WHO you’re targeting with your funnel and what you’re going to use as bait to get them to enter your funnel, you can just pick the right funnel recipe and let ClickFunnels build out the basic templated funnel for you.

There are literally 22 types of funnels built into ClickFunnels you get recipes for.

Once you do this a few times and try out the different types of funnels and see all the different steps, you’ll start to get very quick at building out sales funnels.

After Clickfunnels automatically builds all the pages and steps in your funnel you then have to choose a design or page template for each of the pages.

How to create a membership/course website

Membership sites are used to create training websites behind a login page. Here’s a picture of my Sales Funnel Accelerator Course.

If you want to create a membership site, you don’t have to buy another WordPress plugin or other application, ClickFunnels provides membership funnel that comes with signup page and membership page templates.

This below is a picture of how I edit my course and each of the lessons.

From here you can also edit the membership area design colors ect. All very simple to do and you get a template to start from.

If you have used WordPress or some other website builder, you can imagine how hard it is to create these types of membership funnels from scratch.

Being an internet marketer, you can imagine how hard it is to create such types of membership funnels from scratch. ClickFunnels makes it easy to create a membership site where you can create and provide your course content behind a user account.

Adding lessons is as easy as clicking a button.

How to create surveys & quizzes in ClickFunnels?

I use the survey feature for my “Which Business is right for you?” Free Quiz.

Here’s what it looks like in the ClickFunnels Editor.

As you can see it’s very basic and all you need to do is add the Survey element to your page and click the gear icon to edit it and entering your questions.

Creating the quiz itself is fairly easy once you have the questions.

You can create Triggers that are actions to take instantly when a user answers a question. Trigger a Facebook Pixel, or a Google Tag with Google Tag Manager.

You can also change the Outcomes or what page the user goes to based on their answers which is great when you are asking good questions that can further customize your funnel for each visitor.

Quizzes are very powerful lead magnets when used right. The one above generally provides me with a 50% subscribe rate when people land on it.

The survey feature is not a robust survey tool like some of the others out there but when it comes to lead capture, it has what you need for you sales funnels.

How to create a webinar sales funnel?

Marketers love webinars, and for good reason. They convert really well.

Internet marketers use webinars to deliver free value to their target audience and then eventually send them to their sales page. You easily can create webinar funnels using ClickFunnels, keeping it easy for you and seamless for your customers.

Sticky Cookies

One of the best parts about the ClickFunnels Affiliate program is that they use sticky cookies.

What this means is that if a person visits the Dot Com Secrets landing page and doesn’t buy, the ClickFunnels cookie is recorded on the visitor’s computer and if they return to the same product or any of the others, you will still get the commission because of the sticky cookie.

How does Clickfunnels compare to Sam Cart, Instapages, Lead Pages, Hubspot, Marketo & Pardot?

ClickFunnels has one of the best communities I have come accross. The Official ClickFunnels Facebook Group has over 200,000 members and is very active day and night. They also have a group for affiliates called ClickFunnels Avengers with over 60,000 members.

Just these two groups are awesome and there is more.

What I don’t like about ClickFunnels?

Sometimes page load times can be slow because Clickfunnels uses a shared server.

Some people think Actionetics is still pretty clunky and not intuitive. And you have to pay an extra $200/month to use it. If money is an issue, I recommend using the less expensive $97/month Clickfunnels option that doesn’t include Actionetics and use a different email autoresponder like Aweber or Active Campaign.
