How I've made over $1000 with one blog post
I’ve made over $1000 from just one simple 2000 word blog post and you can too.
If you still don’t think you can make money from blogging, this post is for you.
We all know how big Instagram is.
Just look at these stats.
- Over 500 million active monthly users.
- Over 40 billion photos to date
- Over 95 million photos and videos added per day.
It’s huge and has so much potential to reach a very large audience. People love Instagram and I don’t see this social network going away anytime soon.
The Rise of Instagram Automation Tools
Last year I started to see a lot of Instagram automation applications coming onto the market.
There was Instagress, Instaplus, Latergram and a whole bunch of other ones that started popping up all over the place and people were buying them and using them a lot.
I used Instagress for a while with a few accounts and it helped increase followers quite a bit.
I was really intrigued by these tools and started to look at others and make a list.
I started doing more research, trying to find other applications and testing them out.
As I researched, I found so many applications out there to automate Instagram activity. Most of these applications were capable of automating posting, photo liking and account following and unfollowing.
They all were very good a mimicking human behavior quite well.
After playing around with so many applications, I decided to write a blog post about it and share my list.
I did some keyword research using Semrush and also looked at my Google Search Console data and found that people were searching for “Instagress Clones” and “Instagress Alternatives” and the search volume was pretty good but wasn’t huge.
I decided to title the post “Instagress Alternatives, Clones & Instagram automation tools“.
I chose Instagress to be in the title because to me it was the best one out there. It was really advanced in how you could replicate human behavior and I had the best success with it as well.
It took me a few weeks to write and edit the post. I collected my long list of applications and wrote short descriptions for each app adding in my comments and experience with each one.
After I wrote all of the descriptions, I added an intro to the post about automation and added a summary at the end recapping the post. In all, it was just over 2000 words.
I finally published in Feb of 2017 and posted it on social media and that was about it.
Instagram started shutting down automation apps
In June 2017, Instagress was forced to shut down at the request of Instagram, as the service violated Instagram’s terms of service. Instagram considered these automation apps, spam and started shutting them down.
When this happened, my blog post all of a sudden became a very important, sought after resource.
This sudden shutdown disrupted the entire Instagram marketing industry. People needed “Instagress Clones” and “Instagress Alternatives“, and they needed it now.
I got up that June morning and started looking at my website stats for and noticed a huge amount of traffic spiking for this one post.
At first, I didn’t really understand what was going on just thought he was ranking good for something but wasn’t sure yet what had happened.
I checked out Twitter and learned about the shutdown and then saw the post getting all the traffic.
People were searching like crazy for Instagram clones and instagress alternatives.
My blog post was ranked number one and the traffic just began to flow.
Monetizing the post
How did I make over $1000 from this post?
Many of the Instagram automation applications had affiliate programs and when I was doing my research, if an app had an affiliate program, I joined and added my affiliate link in the post.
It didn’t take long to start making sales on some of the affiliate programs. People were desperate to find alternatives to Instagress and my post had the answers they needed.
Needless to say, the page was converting quite well and is still making me money every day.

As you can see, it’s not too complicated to make money online with affiliate marketing and blogging. This is just one basic example of how it can be done.
There are thousands of affiliate products you can blog about and make a little extra cash.
