Marketing today is about putting the right message in front of the right person at the right time and in order to do that, you need to understand your customers on deep level. You not only need demogra[phics but you also need to understand their wants and needs.

The more you understand their wants, challenges and needs, the better you can position yourself or your company or product to meet their wants, challenges or needs.

I use what are called Buyer Personas to do research to understand as much as I can about the target customer for any campaign or content piece I create.

Buyer personas are fictional representations you create based on real information about the ideal customer you want to attract.

Buyer personas help marketers, product managers, writers and web designers develop a relevant user experience and the right messaging for your content marketing, campaigns and other customer interactions.

Simply stated, buyer personas are the foundation for your sales and marketing strategy and everything else is built out from them.

So the answer to the questions is yes, marketing it’s about understanding your customers and then creating campaigns and content based on that understanding.

This article might help you understand what you need to know about your personas and how to go about creating them.
